About Us
The Rio Vista Senior Center dates back to March 4, 1980 when about 40 people met and incorporated the Citizens for Rio Vista Seniors. On October 18, 1982, the first senior center building was completed. In the decades since then, the building has been renovated and remodeled, new activities and programs have been introduced, and more and more seniors have come to benefit from the services offered here. Today, the Rio Vista Senior Center has an outstanding reputation as one of Solano County’s best. Under the guidance and direction of the Board of Directors, working committees provide the hands-on assistance needed to support the Center’s activities, programs, and fund-raising events. The Center is unique in that it is truly governed by the seniors it serves. Volunteers work hand-in-hand with the Board of Directors and staff to develop, manage, and evaluate the Center’s offerings – and to raise money to support the its ongoing operation. The Center is also supported by the efforts of the City of Rio Vista. |
